Hyunjoo Cho チョ・ヒョンジュ
チョ・ヒョンジュはソウル出身のアーティストで、レンズに焦点を当て作品を展開している。2015年に現実を本質的に捉えた写真に魅了されたことが、現在まで繋がる彼女の活動の出発点となっている。現在は、写真を様々な角度から解釈する視覚的な試行を繰り返し、自身の写真を完成した作品としてだけでなく、次の作品に繋げる素材としても捉える視点を築き上げている。2018年には「Young Creative Korea 2018」に作品を出品、その後も2019年にはCafe FAROにおいて個展「The Fingerprints of Light」、2020年には遊工房アートスペースにおいて「Perception Practice」を開催し作品を発表している。現在は東京藝術大学大学院グローバル・アート・プラクティスMFAプログラムに在籍。主に東京を拠点に活動を展開している。
Hyunjoo Cho is a lens-based artist from Seoul. Her practice began in 2015 when she was first mesmerized by the power of the photographic image that inherently takes and cites reality. She now performs visual experiments that interpret the practice of photography and considers her photographs not only as final products but also as raw material for the next steps of her practice. Her major past exhibitions include “Perception Practice” (Youkobo Art Space, Tokyo, 2020), a solo exhibition “The Fingerprints of Light” (Cafe FARO, Tokyo, 2019), “Young Creative Korea 2018” (ARA Art Center, Seoul, 2018). Currently based in Tokyo, she is pursuing the Global Art Practice MFA program at Tokyo University of the Arts.
