椎名素代 Motoyo Shiina

インスタレーション、写真、ドローイング、パフォーマンスを用いた制作を行う。以前は写真表現を主体としていたが、複製、イメージを残す行為への違和感を基に、さまざまな手法を跨ぎ、視覚やその認識の不確かさについて思考している。空間と身体表現への関心が高く、近年では、マスキングテープをメイン素材にインスタレーション作品を制作している。また、相反する視点を同居させることが作品に通底している。

Shiina works with installation, photography, drawing, and performance.

Previously, her work centered on photography, but discomfort with the act of reproduction and the act of leaving images behind has led her to think about the uncertainty of vision and its perceptions, leading her to move into new methodologies.In recent years, she has been creating installation works using masking tape as the main material. In doing so, she is often creating spaces where conflicting viewpoints may coexist.
